Yifan Kong

Senior Manager | she/her

Yifan Kong is a Senior Manager at Root Cause. She currently works to strengthen collective action through the LiveMutual Project in Springfield, Massachusetts and with Every Baby Guilford, a coalition that seeks to reduce racial disparities in infant mortality and maternal health outcomes in North Carolina. Yifan also provides performance measurement and strategic planning to the HOPE (Healthy Outcomes from Positive Experiences) National Resource Center at Tufts Medical Center and supports facilitation and strategic planning for SkillWorks, a workforce funder initiative at The Boston Foundation. Previous projects include the provision of customized capacity building and technical assistance to State Street Foundation grantees and to early childhood education and care providers through Ready for School, Ready for Life and The Duke Endowment. Yifan also conducted the third-party evaluation of the nation’s first pay for success program focused on reducing chronic homelessness for the Massachusetts Housing & Shelter Alliance.

Prior to Root Cause, Yifan completed internships with Ashoka, the New Jersey State Department of Environmental Protection, and the University of Rochester Laboratory for Laser Energetics.

Yifan graduated from Harvard University, where she studied environmental science and public policy, served as president of the Harvard Association for U.S.-China Relations, and directed two international summits focused on youth leadership and social innovation in China. In addition, Yifan directed and taught for a K-12 music outreach program in Cambridge and was a member of the Harvard University Figure Skating Club
