Abby has over 25 years of experience in partnering with public, private, and nonprofit sector organizations. At Root Cause, she works with schools, hospitals, public agencies, nonprofits, and foundations throughout the United States to help them conduct research, develop strategies, collect and use data, strengthen their services, build organizational capacity, and implement change — in order to improve outcomes and increase equity and access.
Abby believes collaboration is foundational to all project work and is passionate about building strong relationships with team members, partners, and community stakeholders to surface different perspectives, co-design effective processes and solutions, and learn from one another.
In 2006, Abby joined Root Cause as one of its first employees. She has worked with local, state, and national organizations in all social issue areas, with a particular focus on education and public health. Abby is currently a Managing Director at Root Cause, where she leads business development, marketing & communications, talent recruitment, capacity planning, and client services — in addition to supporting client work.
Abby began her career as a market researcher conducting qualitative and quantitative studies to develop go-to-market strategies for Fortune 100 and start-up companies. She is skilled at using different research methodologies to collect data, understand needs and concerns, identify key themes and takeaways, and provide recommendations. She also worked as an investment analyst at Cambridge Associates and a consumer healthcare product director at Johnson & Johnson.
Abby received an A.B. with honors from Harvard University and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School. She has been published in Stanford Social Innovation Review and Social Innovations Journal and has taught at Harvard University and Bay State Community College.
