The Literacy Council of Norristown was founded in 1984 by a group of dedicated Montgomery County citizens, led by Katharine Dosch, to provide tutoring to students who wanted to earn their high school equivalency or improve their reading and math skills. Since then LCN has grown to meet the increasing need for our programs and services. In 1990, LCN added English classes for speakers of other languages at our home site. In 1998, LCN added a Workplace Literacy Project at an employer site emphasizing basic workplace skills. They have added community based literacy projects and continue to grow to meet the needs of the Norristown and greater Montgomery County communities.
